Happy Valentine's Day!

As promised in the post about the CAVEFACE soundtrack, the soundtrack for the scrapped game "Gooter: VIRTUAL MONSTER" is out today! Listen to the sick DnB-inspired tunes from the game on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, TikTok/TikTok Music/Resso/Luna, YouTube Music, Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, Snapchat, and iHeartRadio.

Oh, you're just now learning about Gooter: VIRTUAL MONSTER? Well, you can peep this playlist to see what it was supposed to be. It was meant to be a spinoff game with the story pertaining to Gooter attempting to cross the "Virtual Divide" and escape a mysterious digital world. While this game has been cancelled, it is being used as a base for the new version for Gooter that I announced earlier, so maybe it also isn't cancelled kind of???

Well, regardless, this EP contains 4 tracks. The tutorial theme, "Baseplate", as well as 3 level themes, "Leap", "Rain", and "Dream".

Enjoy!

Anthono220 history is being made today! My very first release on music platforms is out now! You'll be able to listen to/download the somber tunes that play in the CAVEFACE game on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, Tik Tok, Snapchat, and iHeart Radio... TODAY!

Well, what are you waiting for? Go find it on your favorite platform now! Add it to your playlist! Maybe start a listening party? (ok, maybe this soundtrack might not exactly be fit for a long or pumpin' song party, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try).

Stay tuned for more music announcements right here on this blog! Cheers!

Gooter 2025 demo announced

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Gooter's conception, I'm here to announce that after more than a year of development hiatus and a cancelled spinoff, Gooter is coming back, he's coming better, and he's coming soon...ish. This new version is based on Gooter: Virtual Monster, carrying over its gameplay and visual style but now in a game world moreso inspired by the original Gooter. It will also have a storyline similar to what was originally intended for it.

Now, you may be looking at the title and are thinking: "2025?! I really have to wait THAT long?" And yeah, it is a long time to wait for a Gooter demo, but I do want to focus on providing a demo that is high quality and that I'm satisfied with, especially when it comes to the audio. At the same time, I will also be working on other projects that will come out this year (maybe even 1 or 2 that I haven't even thought about yet), as well as school. It's also likely going to be the last demo version before the full game comes out, so chances are it may almost be like a V-slice in a way in terms of gameplay quality. I should mention that I am trying to make development smoother and more fun, however, by cutting workload (no more alternate worlds; less levels), which should hopefully ensure that the demo comes out sooner in 2025 rather than later. Of course, don't be surprised if I happen to release a trailer this year.

Finally, I should probably talk about what the actual demo might contain. Nothing is set in stone, especially given how unpredictable the development process is probably going to be, though I have an idea right now for what I want for the demo. To start, any mechanics and the gameplay loop you see in the Virtual Monster/Monster Mix trailers is 100% going to be playable in the demo. There will be about 3 out of 6 planned worlds in the demo. Each world contains at least 5 levels (compared to Classic, they should generally take longer to beat with the new gameplay style, which is why there are so few). Two of the worlds will have an additional level for their respective boss fights, each having at least 2 phases. There won't be any story elements or cutscenes in the demo, which is why there will be no World 3 boss in the demo as I feel that it would be wrong to include that particular boss without context (she's a major story character, unlike the first two bosses!) I've talked in the past about adding additional modes, and that will likely still happen at least with the full version, so if I have enough time I'll add part of an "endless" gamemode. The demo will likely contain the final version of the menu layout, as well as a pause menu (if I can lol) and mostly every game option that will be in the final game. Translations, if they'll even be in the final game at all, will 100% not come with the demo. Lastly, the demo will have a web release on Newgrounds and a downloadable build on Game Jolt and itch.

Whew, that was a lot of information for an announcement post, but hopefully all this should give you guys an idea of where development is going and give some good enough reasons for the 2025 demo date. Development has been going fairly well lately, and I'm hoping I can keep the self-hype going long enough to get you guys the game you've (maybe?) been waiting for these past 5 years. A lot has happened since January 25th, 2019, so here's to another 5 years filled with good fortune for the funny blue box and his friends, hopefully containing a full game release as well that you can pay for and stuff.
